Expert Chimney Cleaning Services
Annual Chimney cleanings are recommended. At Newman's Chimney Cleaning AZ, we’ve provided top-tier chimney cleaning backed by the Chimney Safety Institute of America. We service the entire Phoenix Metro area and look forward to giving you the peace of mind to burn with confidence.
Upon arrival, we review the job details to ensure we are fully prepared before approaching the door.
After a quick introduction, the technician will ask a few clarifying questions to better understand any issues and answer any questions you might have before the chimney cleaning begins.
Next, there will be a quick inspection of the fireplace, damper, and smoke chamber. The primary areas of concern include mortar joints and panel condition, proper damper operation, signs of rust and water damage, and the level of creosote accumulation.
After the initial inspection, we lay a sheet on the floor to ensure no mess is left behind during the chimney sweep process. Any decorative or fragile items near the fireplace opening will be moved to prevent damage.
Once the floor protection is in place, we head up to the roof to inspect the exterior portions of the chimney. Key areas of concern here include the condition of the flue liner, the presence of a spark arrestor or chimney cap, ensuring the crown or chase cover is intact to prevent water infiltration, and confirming the flashing material is sufficient to prevent leaks.
Before the chimney cleaning begins, we discuss the inspection findings and any recommendations to ensure your safety from potential hazards or damage.
Now it's time for the main event: the chimney cleaning / chimney sweep. First, the work area is staged. This procedure is refined to ensure all necessary tools are accessible and organized, enabling us to work efficiently. Our most important tool here is our vacuum, which collects dust and prevents it from entering your home.
The chimney cleaning / chimney sweep procedure ensures your system is safe and free of combustible material, allowing you to use it with confidence and peace of mind. We use top-of-the-line polypropylene or stainless steel brushes.
Step 1: Remove the wood grate to clear all portions of the fireplace of creosote and ash.
Step 2: Sweep the smoke chamber, if applicable. This area is often the dirtiest due to turbulence. Great care is taken to ensure thorough chimney cleaning.
Step 3: Clean the flue liner by sweeping back and forth, and adding additional chimney sweep rods until the brush reaches the top of the chimney. We then sweep again on the way down to ensure thorough chimney cleaning. Each rod and brush is cleaned before removal to prevent dust transfer into the home.
Step 4: Sweep the fireplace and damper with handheld brushes to remove any loose creosote.
Step 5: Remove any remaining soot or ash from the fireplace floor and vacuum the walls and floor.
Step 6: Once the chimney sweep is complete, non-essential equipment and tools are taken outside while the vacuum eliminates lingering dust in the fireplace air.
Step 7: Vacuum the sheet edge and carefully fold it back to ensure no remaining dust becomes airborne. Vacuum the hearth and hearth extension, and return any moved items to their original places.
Once the work area is tidied up and cleared of equipment, we will conduct a quick job review. This includes an estimate of the material removed, suggested chimney cleaning frequency moving forward, and recommendations for better performance of your chimney system.
Finally, we will leave you to enjoy a cozy fire with confidence and peace of mind. We value your feedback and always appreciate reviews on Google and Facebook. See you on you next chimney sweep appointment.
